The Bishop Canevin Hockey Team scored 5 goals in the second period and Turner Anselm recorded a hat trick as part of a six point game in a 10-3 win against Burrell at the Ice Castle on Thursday night. The win put the Crusaders back into a first place tie with Neshannock in the North Division. BC has a game in hand on the Lancers.
Burrell took a 1-0 lead but Ryan Saginaw and Anselm scored less than two minutes apart to give a Canevin a 2-1 lead after one period. It was the 9th goal of the season for each of the players. Mason Glover assisted on Anselm’s goal.
BC put the game away in the second period. Ian Lecker scored his 8th goal of the year only 50 seconds into the period. After the Bucs answered with a goal, the Crusaders scored the last four goals in the second period. Anselm scored his second of the night on assist from Lecker. Then Tony Cicchino scored his first goal of the season on an assist from Saginaw. Michael Parzynski III added an unassisted goal and Ben Ondrejko finished the scoring in the period with his second goal of the year, with another assist from Saginaw.
Anselm finished his hat trick and recorded his 11th goal early in the third period. The assists came from Lecker and Justin Lashley. Lashley recorded three assists on the night.
Bishop Canevin is 8-1-2 in division play. Their next game is against the only team to defeat the Crusaders in regulation, the Carrick Raiders, on Thursday, February 25th. Game time is scheduled for 7 PM.
