The Bishop Canevin Hockey team won a big game at home on February 3 beating Morgantown, 4-2, to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Crusaders have won 4 of their last 5 games with 2 games left in the regular season. Canevin’s record is now 7-9-0 in PIHL competition.
Chase Evans scored a big goal for the Crusaders early in the second period on the power play to give BC a 2-0 lead. It was Evans’ 10th goal of the season. Canevin lead Morgantown 3-1 after two periods.
The Mohawks scored early in the third period to create a tense finish, but that pressure disappeared after Turner Anselm scored his seventh goal of the season with just under three minutes remaining to restore BC’s two goal lead. Evans assisted on the goal, which was the final score of the night and final was 4-2.
The Crusaders are only one point out of a playoff spot, trailing both Morgantown and Elizabeth Forward by that slim margin. Though both teams do have games in hand over BC. Canevin is next on the ice on Monday, February 17 at the Rostraver Ice Garden to face the Ringgold Rams, the leader of the South Division with a perfect 15-0-0 record. Start time is scheduled for 7:15 PM.
One week after that, Elizabeth Forward comes to the Ice Castle to finish the regular season and maybe determine the final playoff team in the South Division, this game is scheduled for a 9 PM start time.
