The Bishop Canevin JV Girls Volleyball team started the 2020 volleyball season with a 2-0 win over the OLSH Chargers 2 sets to 0 on Monday night at Bishop Canevin High School.
Two aces from Bella DeMark helped BC to a 10-6 lead in the first set. However the Chargers used two strong service runs to take a 19-14 lead. Then BC started to rally. Libby Hitchings had a kill, Ella Whalen served an ace and Sophie Maida had four kills to tie the set at 23. A Chargers hitting error ended the first set with a 26-24 BC win.
Canevin jumped to a fast start in the 2nd set too. Gia Beichner served up 2 aces to jump to a 4-0 lead. Then after a Hitchings block, Rylee Bush served 2 more aces to push the lead to 10-1. Vivian White added two kills and Cameran Lokaitis added one kill to keep the lead 16-9. Another service run from the Chargers cut the lead to 19-15. But one more Beichner ace helped make the final 25-18 for the sweep.
Bishop Canevin is back on the court Thursday night for a home match against section opponent Northgate. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 PM and the game will be live-streamed on the Bishop Canevin Sports Network, starting at 5:55 pm.
