After 16 days, the Bishop Canevin Varsity Girls Basketball team returned to the court and started and had an up and down return against Carlynton at home on Monday night. BC started fast, lost the lead by halftime, but responded in the second half to beat the Cougars 56-49.
Ashley Lippold scored the first 12 points of the game to get the Crusaders off to that fast start. But Carlynton did respond to close the BC lead to five points after one quarter.
Canevin only scored seven points in the second quarter, and Lippold scored five of those. Carlynton took a three point lead at the half.
Bishop Canevin got scoring from other players in the second half. Aliyah Scott scored BC’s first eight points in the third quarter as the Crusaders took the lead back. Lippold added four more points to finish with a game-high 21 points. Canevin took a four point lead into the final quarter.
The Crusaders hit on four three-point shots in the final quarter. Josie Bochicchio hit two three’s in the quarter and finished with ten points. Scott hit one more three to finish with 13 points. And Savanah Abbott hit a three as part of her seven fourth quarter points ton finish with nine points on the night. BC led by as many as 11 points in the final quarter before the Cougars cut the final margin to 56-49.
Bishop Canevin is now 2-0 on the season. They have four more days off before their next game at Rochester to face the Class A #1 ranked Rams, according to the TribLive HSSN rankings. Game time is scheduled for 4:30 PM.
