Despite a fourth quarter rally, the Bishop Canevin Varsity Boys Basketball team lost at Mt. Lebanon on Wednesday night 55-52. The loss to the Class 6A Blue Devils stopped the BC win streak at nine games.
Lebo jumped to a ten point lead in the first half. Dom Elliott and Kevaughn Price each scored six points in the fist half. Brennan Hipkiss hit a three in the third quarter, but it wasn’t until the final quarter until the Crusaders warmed up offensively.
Elliott and Nevan Crossey hit three’s in the final quarter as BC scored 19 to cut the final margin to three. Elliott finished with 15 points and Price scored 12.
A late schedule change will send Bishop Canevin to Fox Chapel for their regular season finale on Friday. Geibel Catholic cancelled the preivously scheduled game on Thursday morning and the alternate matchup was scheduled. Game time is scheduled for 4:30 PM. It is a varsity only game.
Canevin is now 12-4 on the season. Friday’s game is the final game before the playoffs begin next week. BC is the #1 seed in the WPIAL Class A Playoffs for the first time in school history. They will have six days off before playing in a quarterfinal game on Friday March 5 against the winner of the Avella-St. Joseph first round game scheduled for Tuesday night. Friday’s game time is scheduled for 6 PM. Broadcast details will be announced next week.
