Saturday’s story was like so many of the previous stories for the Bishop Canevin Boys Varsity Basketball team, as they jumped to a big early lead and eased their way in a 88-25 win at Propel Montour on Saturday afternoon.
As they have for most of the season, BC used their press to force turnovers, limit the opposition’s possessions and create easy baskets. Jaden Gales hit the game’s first two baskets and Dom Elliott scored five points as Canevin took a 14-0 to start the game. Elliott finished the quarter with eight points. Kevaughn Price scored 12 of his game high 16 points in the quarter. Jhamil Fife scored seven, finishing with nine.
Canevin extended the lead to 42 points by halftime. Kai Spears scored six of his 12 points in the second quarter. Gales and Nevan Crossey each added four points. Gales finished with eight points.
In the second half several different Crusaders saw extended playing time. Mark Ingold hit two three’s for part of his 10 points. Shea Champine finished with eight points. Mike McFetridge and Francis Bochicchio each scored three points and Brady Zarnick added a basket.
Bishop Canevin improves to 8-0 in section play, 12-3 overall. This was their ninth straight victory. BC returns home for a section game against Mapletown on Tuesday night. The JV game is scheduled for a 6 PM start with the Varsity game to follow around 7:30 PM. The Bishop Canevin Sports Network will have coverage beginning at 5:55 PM.
