A late 11 point run to end the game propelled Bishop Canevin to the Championship of the Bishop Canevin Christmas Tournament over Keystone Oaks, 54-43. The Crusaders held the Golden Eagles scoreless during the last 4 minutes of the 4th quarter, and pulled away late to win a game that had been close all evening long.
The game was competitive from the first quarter. With the game tied at 8, Dom Elliott and Nevan Crossey hit three point shots on consecutive possessions to give a BC a six point lead that they would hold for the rest of the quarter, which ended 17-13 for Canevin.
The second quarter was Keystone Oaks’ best quarter of the night. The Eagles took a 23-21 lead in the middle of the quarter and stretched the lead to as high as six points before the Crusaders narrowed the gap to three points at halftime.
The third quarter started quietly as neither team scored in the first four minutes of the quarter. KO worked the lead back up to five points, but a Nate Kirsch three pointer in the last 30 seconds of the quarter cut the lead to two points at the end of the quarter.
The fourth quarter was tight in the early stages and with four minutes to go, the game was tied at 43. That’s when Crossey hit another 3 pointer to give BC a lead they would not lose again. Then after two Elliott rebounds, Kirsch hit both ends of a one-and-one to increase the lead to five. Then with the Eagle defense taking chances late, Jhamil Fife and Kevaughn Price hit layups and Canevin went home to with the Christmas Tournament trophy.
