The Bishop Canevin Boys Freshmen Basketball team travelled to Serra Catholic High School and defeated the Eagles 64-50 on Friday afternoon.

The first quarter featured strong offense from both teams Leonard Aiken scored four points in the quarter for BC and 4 different players (Jason Cross, Michael Vaughn, Cooper Yuhas, and Zach Ziegler) each connected on a three-point shot as Canevin trailed 17-16 after one quarter.

Canevin took the lead at halftime. Vaughn scored 5 of his 8 points in the quarter as BC took a two point lead at the half.

The Crusaders took control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring Serra 20-8 in the quarter. Cross scored 9 of his game-high 18 points. Dom Varley added four points in the quarter and Quenten White hit a three-pointer for three of his six points.

Cross, Ziegler, and Ryan McFetridge each added four points in the final quarter as Bishop Canevin closed out the 64-50 victory.

The Crusaders are now 2-3 on the season. Their next game is Monday afternoon at Upper St. Clair. Game time is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
