The boys cross-country team concluded their section schedule on Monday with a 26-30 victory over South Park High School. The boys finished with a section record of 7-1 for second place in the section behind Winchester Thurston for the third time in the past four years. The boys cross-country team has a cumulative record of 30-5 over the past four years with the only losses coming to Winchester Thurston and one loss to Serra Catholic in 2018.
Leading the way for the Crusaders in the victory was Freshman Ben Ondrejko in 2nd place, followed by junior Trey Varley (3rd place). Other scorers were Junior Tony Cicchino (6th), Senior Adam Reyes (7th), Senior Brennan Hipkiss (8th), and Freshman Dominic Varley (9th). Other Canevin finishers were Seniors Samuel Nicolella and Jack Mickle in 12th and 13th places, respectively, and freshman Joey Cicchino in 15th place.
Next up for the Crusaders is the Mingo Creek Invitational on October 15th. The following week on October 21st will be the Tri-State Invitational at White Oak Park, and the season will conclude for the team at the WPIAL Championships on October 28th, also at White Oak Park.
