It was the best played match of the season, and it was the closest match as well. However South Park was able to gang on for a three-shot victory, 217-220, over a Bishop Canevin team that proved that they are a much improved team.
For the second straight match all five Crusaders posted scores under 50. Junior Mark Ingold even broke 40, shooting a 39. Freshman Ryan Saginaw shot a 43 and Senior Michael Smith was right behind with a 44. Still, the Eagles hung on by three strokes.
Through five matches, the Crusaders record is 3-2. Their two losses came against last year’s playoff teams by a combined total of 11 strokes.
Bishop Canevin ends the first half of the season on Monday afternoon at Fort Cherry Golf Club against the Rangers. Tee time is scheduled for 3 PM.
