Lauren Kirsch scored all three Crusaders goals, and Tori Legleitner and the BC defense earned their 5th shutout in beating The Ellis School on a cold Monday night at Youthtowne Field, 3-0.

Kirsch scored her first goal in the game’s 20th minute, with an assist from Ainsley Smith. They combined again on Kirsch’s second goal, and Smith’s second assist in the 31st minute. Canevin led 2-0 at halftime.

Smith assisted Kirsch on the Crusaders’ third and final goal of the night in the second minute of the second half. Smith took a corner kick and Kirsch headed the ball in for her hat trick goal. From there, Ellis put out a strong effort in an attempt to get a goal, but the Canevin defense never cracked, only allowing a few shots from the outside that Legleitner was easily able to corral.

Bishop Canevin is now 5-0-2 overall and in section play. They keep their slim lead for the section title over Sewickley Academy, which also won on Monday night. The Crusaders play next on Wednesday afternoon at Aquinas Academy. Game time is scheduled for 4 pm.
