The Bishop Canevin Baseball Team lost the first of a two-game series at Jefferson-Morgan 7-0 on Monday afternoon.
Nevan Crossey started the game by hitting a triple, but the Crusaders were unable to get him home. Dom Varley also singled for Canevin. J-M scored single runs in both of the first two innings. Justin Gmys singled for BC in the fourth inning. The single extended his hitting streak to 10 games.
Crossey and Luke Andruscik singled for Canevin in the top of the seventh inning, but a double play and a pop up preserved the shutout for the Rockets.
The two teams meet again Tuesday afternoon at Meyer Middleton Field in the back end of the two-game series. It is the final section game on the Crusaders schedule. Bishop Canevin will have to wait until the rest of the section concludes section play in May before they find out if they qualify for a berth in the WPIAL playoffs.
