Crusaders News · BC Hockey opens PIHL Playoffs against Connellsville on Monday

The Bishop Canevin Hockey Team will play in a PIHL Class B Quarterfinal Playoff Monday night against Connellsville.  The playoff pairings were announced by the PIHL on Friday.  The game is scheduled for Monday night with a 9 PM start time at the Center Ice Arena in Delmont.

The Crusaders finished in a second place tie in the North Division with 24 points.  Their record in league games this season is 11-5-2.  They are the #4 seed in this year’s playoff.  Fifth seeded Connellsville finished with a record of 9-5-3, for 21 points and a third place finish in the South Division.

The two teams had one regular season meeting on November 5.  The Crusaders won that game 3-2.  Ian Lecker scored a goal and an assist that evening.

This is the first appearance in the PIHL Playoffs for Bishop Canevin since 2016.  In that season, the Crusaders won the Class AA Penguins Cup, defeating Mars 5-1 in the Championship Game.

The winner of Monday night’s game will play again on Thursday, April 15, in the Class B Semifinal at the RMU Island Sports Center.  They will face the winner of Monday’s Quarterfinal between #1 Ringgold and #8 Avonworth.
