Last night our football staff welcomed back former head football coach Bob “Jake” Jacoby and some of our alumni to unveil our new football locker room area. This project was completely funded through donations from a variety of our stakeholders and we are very grateful to each and every person that made this project possible.
Over the last six weeks this space has been totally transformed. A number of our families, football coaches (and their families), players, as well as alumni have been hard at work transforming the space under the leadership of Dean Milko and his son senior Collin Milko.
The project got underway with removing the old lockers and benches and a complete emptying out of the space done by a couple of parents and coaches. Once the room was emptied it was time to get to work on reconstructing the space. Throughout this time Mr. Milko and a host of other volunteers have spent countless hours on campus transforming this space into something special. The fresh coat of paint done in the room was completed by our players, the lockers were built through a combination of volunteers, players, and professionals. The flooring was completed by our Head Hockey Coach Eric Glover, the lockers were stained by the mothers led by Kari Milko and Bree Johnson, the locker name plates were created by Mrs. Linda McLemore in our innovation lab. Mrs. Johnson also helped put up the décor and created the image for the locker seats.
The décor of the room pays tribute to our past while also offering some modern appeal. There are a variety of plaques, pictures, and a brand new record board displayed above the locker space to showcase the past, while modern lighting, jersey display, floor decal, and name plates give recognition to our current team.
Coach Johnson also presented Coach Jacoby with a Crusader helmet signed by our current team as a token of appreciation for all he has done for Bishop Canevin Football.
We want to thank those who spent time working here, as well as those in attendance last night to celebrate this unveiling with Coach Jacoby and our Staff: Gary Dellovade, Gino Fagnilli, Eric Jacoby, Neil Jacoby, Jim Lucot, Frank Polito, Darren Schoppe, and Wim Rogers.
