Boys Junior Varsity Basketball, Boys Varsity Basketball · WPIAL Releases Boys Basketball Pairings

The Bishop Canevin Boys Basketball team received a #2 seed and a first round bye in the 2020 WPIAL Class A Playoffs, as pairings were announced tonight at the Greentree Doubletree Hotel.
Canevin will play in the WPIAL Class A Quarterfinals on Thursday, February 20.  The time and location of the game will be announced after the first round games have been played.  The 2nd seeded Crusaders will face the winner of the Saturday, February 15 game between the #7 Monessen Greyhounds and the #10 Union Scotties.  That game is being played at North Hills High School.  A Canevin win in the WPIAL Quarterfinals will secure a berth in the PIAA Class A State Championship Tournament for the first time since 2017 when the Crusaders reached the Western Final of the Class AA PIAA Tournament.
The Bishop Canevin boys just completed one of the more successful regular seasons in school history.  They finished the regular season with an overall record of 17-5.  They won their fourth ever WPIAL Section Championship, and their first ever unbeaten section title, with a 12-0 record against Section 2-A competition.
This is the second straight playoff season for the boys.  Last year, they were eliminated by Leechburg in the first round of the WPIAL Class A playoffs.
All playoff presale tickets will be available online through the HUDDLE-GO FAN website at
Presale student tickets are $5.00 and adult tickets are $7.00. Adult tickets are the same price online, presale and at the gate.  All tickets at the gate THROUGH THE SEMI FINALS are one price — $7.00.  No student tickets will be sold at the gate.
