Bishop Canevin Senior Forwards Chase Evans and Cameron Ropchock have been chosen to represent the Crusaders in the 2020 PIHL Class B All-Star Game. The game will be played on Sunday, January 26 at the RMU Island Sports Center on Neville Island. Game time is 12 Noon.
Evans and Ropchock are tied for 9th place in the race for the scoring championship in PIHL Class B. Both players have 22 points after 13 games.
Ropchock has 16 goals and 6 assists so far this season. His 16 goals lead the Crusaders and he is third in Class B, only 3 goals behind the league leader. He’s tallied two hat-tricks on the season so far, but his season highlight came against Wilmington on December 16. With the game tied at 1-1 in the 2nd period, Ropchock scored a natural hat-trick in a span of 6:15 to give BC a 4-1 lead. He added one more goal in the third period for a 4 goal night and a 6-3 win over the Greyhounds. This is Ropchock’s 2nd Straight PIHL All-Star Selection.
Evans has 8 goals and 14 assists for his 22 points. The 14 assists leads Canevin and his 8 goals trails only Ropchock. Evans is tied for 5th place in Class B in assists, only 6 behind the leader in that category. Evans has three 3-point nights on the season at this time. That includes a hat-trick in a 6-3 at Trinity on November 5. Evans had a four-point game (1g-3a) in an 11-1 win at Central Valley and a season-high 5 point night (1g-4a) in the December 16 win at Wilmington. This is Evans’ first PIHL All-Star selection.
The Crusaders have one more game before the All-Star Game. On Monday, January 20, the Crusaders face the Carrick Raiders at the Ice Castle in Castle Shannon. Game time is scheduled for 9 PM.
